September 30, 2025- Werabe University today
commenced its Annual Research Funding Proposal Review and Evaluation Workshop,
organised by the Research, Publication, Ethics, and Dissemination Directorate.
The program was officially opened by Dr. Matewos Kebede, Director of RPED. The
workshop will run until Thursday.
In his opening speech, Dr. Matewos highlighted the
University’s steady progress in research, including the growth in approved
proposals, increased funding allocation, and outputs such as journal
publications, patents, and rising citation performance. He also noted the need
for more thematic and multidisciplinary approaches and stronger integration of
technology in line with opportunities and challenges of the Fourth Industrial
Revolution.
A total of 46 proposals that passed preliminary
departmental and college screening are being evaluated during the workshop. The
process combines double-blind reviews at the college level with
University-level assessments that focus on budget, inclusiveness, and alignment
with institutional KPIs. Reviewers are expected to upload their results
promptly to the Research Information Management System (RIMS), and researchers
will be required to address all feedback and submit revised proposals before
funding agreements are signed.
The workshop demonstrates Werabe University’s
commitment to advancing a culture of accountability, quality, and measurable
impact in research and innovation, while ensuring that its projects contribute
to national priorities and knowledge generation.
