our students and faculty to thrive in their pursuits. As we embark on this
academic journey together, I encourage you to take full advantage of the
resources and opportunities available to you. Let us work hand in hand to
advance knowledge and make meaningful contributions to the field of
biotechnology. Together, we will explore groundbreaking advancements in
biotechnology that have the potential to transform lives and improve our world.
By fostering a culture of innovation, we can inspire each other to push
boundaries and discover new possibilities. I look forward to witnessing the
incredible projects and ideas that will emerge from our collective efforts.
The Department of Biotechnology was
launched in 2014 G.C. along with other academic majors in the College of
Natural and Computational Sciences. The department started its task by
enrolling more than 50 students and four instructors in the academic year.
There are nine instructors, one lab technicians, and one administrative staff
member in the department. Among the nine instructors, eight are on duty,
whereas one instructor is attending his M.Sc. program at Addis Ababa
University in Ethiopia. Currently, in the department, more than 100 students
are attending their studies in regular programs. The B.Sc. Program in Biotechnology
has a regular program and the
department is also in the final stage of launching a M.Sc. program in
biotechnology. The curriculum in the Biotechnology program has been prepared to
guide students through well-established academic courses to produce efficient
and productive citizens in the future. The ultimate goal of the department is
also to help students to be critical thinkers and researchers in the area.
Outstanding students are offered to work as teaching assistants in the
department.
The department has many roles in
accordance with the vision and mission of Werabe University in establishing
quality education and taking up scientific research programs in the university.
Therefore, I am thrilled to represent this forthcoming department dedicated to
providing quality education, producing a qualified workforce, conducting
problem-solving research, and providing community services. I hope everybody
will give constructive ideas for the raised questions in different directions
and explore our department. Please visit our website and explore our

Together, let us use science to build a healthier, more sustainable, and
prosperous future.
Warm regards,
Mr. Ebrahim S.
